Assistant Professor of Nursing

Midway College seeks an Assistant Professor of Nursing to teach undergraduate courses in seat and online.

We seek an individual who is committed to teaching and mentoring students and who will work with the Program Director to enhance the rigor, currency, and quality of the program while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.

Duties are teaching in-seat and online, developing curriculum, advising students, serving on committees, and scholarship.

Required qualifications: Doctorate in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Experience teaching at the college level and a minimum of two years of Medical-Surgical patient care experience. A background in public health highly desirable.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Health Care Administration

Midway College invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor to teach full time in the Health Care Administration undergraduate program and, if credentials warrant, in the MBA program.

Founded in 1847, Midway College serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs and online programs. Staff

Resident Director

Founded in 1847, Midway College serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in evening accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

The individual chosen will direct and administer a comprehensive residence life program in one of the two all-female residence halls on campus. Duties include staff selection, training and supervision, student discipline, mediation, community development, and administrative/facilities management responsibilities normally associated with residential living. This position will collaborate with Student Affairs staff members and campus security to help provide a secure residential living environment. Night and weekend duty rotation is required.

This is a ten month, live-in position; beginning August 1, 2014, with a small stipend and an apartment, phone service, cable TV, Wi-Fi internet access, utilities and meals. Bachelor’s degree and Residence Life experience preferred.

Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for providing assistance to faculty in the development of instructional materials necessary to support online learning, project-based learning, and “flipped classroom” projects/assignments. This person will work collaboratively with faculty/subject matter experts to assist them in the development of various multimedia elements, including audio, video, and graphic/animated components in support of implementing online learning, project-based learning, and flipped classroom projects/assignments. In addition, this position will work with implementation and administration of course management, assessment, e-portfolio and other instructional application software systems.

Duties and responsibilities include but, are not limited to:
• Supports the daily operations of the Center for Digital Learning through instructional technologies such as Learning Management Systems (Moodle), lecture capture, video conferencing, and multimedia development.
• Works collaboratively with faculty to develop multimedia elements (including audio, video, and graphic/animated components) to support online learning development efforts.
• Assists in the set-up and delivery of training related to technology necessary to support online and/or hybrid learning, project-based learning, and flipped classroom assignments.
• Manages software and hardware available for check-out to faculty which includes providing all necessary training and support.
• Assists in the development and implementation of online learning and other related initiatives.
• Works with the online learning committee and other staff/faculty members in the development of a long-term strategic plan for online learning and other initiatives.
• Manages participant registration and enrollment as it pertains to the training efforts of the center, as well as center’s usage data.
• Remains up-to-date on developments in the online learning and related technology fields.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Qualifications include: 2-3 years’ experience with Moodle and instructional design, teaching and training experience. Computer assisted instruction, multimedia production, web authoring, HTML authoring, course management systems, e-portfolio systems, and we-based instructional programs preferred. Bachelor's degree with emphasis in instructional design or educational media. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Director of Alumni & Corporate/Foundation Relations

The Director of Alumni & Corporate/Foundation Relations will be responsible for all promotions, special events and activities related to building strong relationships with alumni. This will include work with our alumni boards, planning and coordinating events, and managing various means of communication to alumni. The Director will be responsible for the entire grant process, including research, preparation, writing, submission and management of proposals to foundation and corporate sources as well as grant compliance. This position will also oversee all stewardship to current donors. In addition, this position will be expected to support all fundraising activities including, but not limited to, phoning, direct mail, and face to face visits.

Qualifications include: Minimum of one year experience with grant writing and two years’ experience with fundraising. Previous experience with non-profit fundraising required, experience in higher education preferred. Candidate must be familiar with working in a deadline driven environment and capable of handling multiple assignment and income goals. Strong communication and writing skills are a must. Bachelor's degree required.

Collections Specialist

Midway college is seeking an applicant to fill a full-time, regular position requiring accounts receivable and billing experience. Primary duties include: past due student accounts receivable collection via telephone and email, skip tracing research, data entry including payment posting, journal entries, employer billing, & file maintenance as well as reconciling & analyzing student accounts.

Herd Caretaker/Exercise Rider: Two open positions

Midway College is seeking to fill two Herd Caretaker/Exercise Rider positions. The ideal candidates will have excellent work ethic, attitude, and communication skills.

Herd Caretaker/Exercise Rider #1 schedule will be Sunday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Herd Caretaker/Exercise Rider #2 schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Both positions are full time, non-exempt positions which also require working some holidays.

The Herd Caretaker’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Stable care (cleaning and maintaining stalls, aisleway, washracks, grooming areas, tack rooms, etc.); maintenance of arenas and arena footing (watering, dragging, etc.); operating farm equipment (tractors, manure spreaders, water truck, drags, etc.); grooming horses; inspection, care, and maintenance of tack and grooming; feeding horses indoors and outdoors; maintaining water sources (cleaning, filling, inspecting); holding horses for the farrier and equine dentist; assisting herd health veterinarian and/or veterinary assistant; administering basic treatments and medications to horses; participating in routine herd conditioning under the direction of the Equine Operations Director and Equine Operations Assistant Director (this may include lunging horses, riding horses, using other controlled movement techniques or equipment, administering therapeutic modalities to horses, and assisting students with these activities). Demonstration of riding ability will be a part of the interview process.

Four or more years of farm experience and four or more years of working with and riding horses are required for this position. The applicant must be proficient at basic horse handling skills, restraint techniques, equine conditioning methods, and applying common treatments (ex: bandages, standing wraps, sweats, and poultices). The applicant must also be familiar with tack and other training equipment (saddles, bridles, side reins, martingale, etc.), and must be able to recognize abnormal behavior or signs of illnesses pertaining to horses. Employee must be able to use typical farm equipment. This position requires long hours of standing and walking, heavy lifting, and the ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as working outdoors in all weather conditions. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the disciplines of Dressage, Hunt seat, or Western. Midway College offers a comparable salary plus an excellent benefits package.

Hunt Seat Equestrian Team Coach

Midway College is seeking to fill our Hunt Seat Equestrian Team coach position. This is a 10 month part-time position with evening and some weekend hours.

The position requires traveling to events outside of the college, as well as organizing and coaching team practices. As such, the position requires working evening and weekend hours. Additionally, the team coach will be expected to play an integral and active role in maintaining a group of hunter/jumper horses at an appropriate level of training and soundness (of body and mind), in order for the hunt seat team to safely and successfully participate in IHSA shows and team practices.

The duties of this position include: Holding team tryouts and riding skill level placement tests; organizing and coaching team practices; attending IHSA coaches’ meetings; organizing, planning, and carrying out all Midway College hosted IHSA hunt seat events; maintaining a standard of fitness for all participating equestrian team members; maintaining high standards and quality of the Midway College Hunt Seat Equestrian Team (ie. Recruitment, selection, and performance); maintaining good relations with the IHSA organization; transporting students to equestrian team shows and events; assisting with recording and documenting horse usage; working with select horses for training and schooling purposes; participating in the trial of new horses for the hunt seat discipline; participate in recruiting and selecting potential horses for lease or donation to the college; selecting recipients of equine team award; attending athletics awards ceremonies and other team related events; leading teams in the community service required of them by the College.

A four year degree in an equine-related field is preferred. Applicant must have a minimum of four years’ successful experience showing or coaching in the hunter/jumper discipline at a national level at shows recognized by the USHJA and USEF as “A” rated competitions. The applicant must also have a minimum of four years’ experience teaching and/or coaching students from beginning to advanced level riders. Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated personal and coaching success through the Grand Prix level. USHJA teaching certification of level two or higher or equivalent preferred. Participating member of USEF and USHJA preferred. Candidate must be certified in CPR.

Dressage Equestrian Team Coach
