Midway College, founded in 1847 and affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is the only Women's College in Kentucky and provides accelerated degree completion and graduate programs for both women and men through evening and online delivery. Committed to both the liberal arts and professional programs, the college offers majors leading to degrees at the associate and bachelors levels as well as graduate degree programs in business and education. Hospitality & Tourism Professor

Midway College seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Hospitality and Tourism.

Founded in 1847, Midway College serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in evening accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in the Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

We seek an individual who is committed to teaching and mentoring students. Our program offers an undergraduate curriculum with a major in Hospitality and Tourism Management and an MBA with a specialty in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The ideal candidate will have a collection of skills and a strong academic experience in hospitality and tourism industry, a proven record of teaching excellence, and the ability to work with Kentucky’s premier distilleries and world famous equine operations. In addition the successful candidate must have a student-centered focus and values excellent teaching, mentoring and applied scholarship.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate (or ABD under certain conditions) in Hospitality and Tourism management. Preferred qualifications include teaching and professional work experience as well as demonstrated excellence in this field; and a commitment to working with undergraduates.

Admissions Counselor

The Office of Enrollment Services at Midway College seeks an innovative emerging educational professional to join us as Admissions Counselor, with an emphasis in multicultural recruitment. This is a full-time, 12 month position with benefits. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: delivering presentations to a diverse constituency, territory management, interviewing prospective students, providing admission, recommending admission decisions and assisting with on and off-campus recruiting events, lead recruitment efforts targeting underrepresented high school student populations.

Candidates must be able to work independently, work well with other units and groups across campus and in high schools, community colleges, and various community organizations. Qualified candidates will travel extensively in the fall and spring months visiting high schools, attending college fairs and developing working relationships with high school guidance counselors. Duties include representing the college at various on and off-campus recruitment events, managing a recruitment territory, interviewing prospective students and reviewing applications. Work related travel and irregular hours including some evening and weekend work is required.

Required:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited non-profit institution
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong record of achievement and adaptability to change
• In-depth knowledge of Midway’s liberal arts mission, academic programs, extracurricular activities and educational outcomes
• Extensive weekend and evening hours
• Valid drivers license; driving record investigation is required
• Other duties as assigned

Strongly Preferred:
• 1-3 years related experience

Multicultural Affairs Coordinator

The Office of Multicultural and International Affairs (OMIA) at Midway College seeks an innovative emerging educational professional to join us as Multicultural Affairs Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist Director to ensure that OMIA fulfills its mission and goals; communicates the goals and activities of OMIA through presentations to diverse constituencies on and off campus; strategically build relationships with community partners, civic and faith groups; collaborates with the Admissions Office providing general counseling to new underrepresented minority and international students regarding admission processes, academic programs, and financial aid; collaborates with the Student Affairs Office, providing general counseling to underrepresented minority and international students to improve retention, connecting the students with resources available in the community if and when necessary; ensuring that proper procedures for collecting data are met as well as assisting with on and off-campus multicultural events, managing social media/website and newsletter to expand communications.

Candidates must be able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously, work well with other units and groups across campus, at other higher education institutions, and various community organizations. Must be creative, well organized and detail oriented in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidate will have a strong record of achievement and the ability to adapt to change. Work related travel and irregular hours including evening and weekend work are required.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude and desire to learn
• General knowledge of community and/or social service resources and programs
• In-depth knowledge of Midway’s liberal arts mission, academic programs, and educational outcomes
• Valid drivers license; driving record investigation is required
• Other duties as assigned including clerical and administrative, ability to write reports and maintain records
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and tact
• Proven oral and written fluency in Spanish

Strongly Preferred:
• 1-3 years related experience
• Familiarity with strategic planning processes and experience in the area of social media and online networking in order to facilitate engagement with students/families
