Assistant Professor of English

Midway College seeks an Assistant Professor of English (Rhetoric and Composition).

Founded in 1847, Midway College serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in evening accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in the Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

We seek an individual who is committed to teaching and mentoring students. Duties include teaching undergraduate writing courses for the general student population and writing and literature courses in the English major. Strong candidates will be gifted teachers and promising scholars with theorized pedagogies and interests in designing writing curricula.

The newly hired faculty member will teach and work with faculty in Communication and in Interdisciplinary Studies to administer our undergraduate writing program; develop writing curricula; supervise and mentor part-time instructors; and participate in writing-across-the-curriculum program administration. Additional duties include advising, serving on committees, and scholarship.

Desirable areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, digital literacies, multilingual writing, writing across the curriculum, writing in the disciplines or professions, literacy studies, and relations among rhetoric, composition and communication. The following secondary qualifications would also be valuable: 1) experience in developing internships or advising students on writing careers, 2) evidence of effective leadership and/or interest in writing assessment.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in English with a primary emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition or doctorate in a closely related field; experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching writing; and a commitment to working with undergraduates.

Dean of the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Studies

Midway College seeks a dean to lead the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Studies. Founded in 1847, the institution serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women's College and both men and women in accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. It is located in the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky amid rolling hills, Thoroughbred farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving
distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

Reporting to the Provost and a member of the Academic Affairs Council, the dean will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the School, from personnel evaluation and management to course scheduling and communication with internal and external constituencies.

Most importantly, the dean will be a thoughtful and energetic leader capable of mentoring faculty members and marshalling their expertise to create new programs across disciplinary lines and make efficient use of resources across the School and the College. The dean must also be able to work with both academia and industry and make connections with business and equine leaders.

We seek an individual who is a visionary with a desire to create, to help faculty grow, and to develop students into ethical, knowledgeable, and committed professionals. He or she must be a leader who is also willing to roll up his or her sleeves to complete the necessary work and wear the multiple hats that
small institutions require of their leaders.

Qualifications: Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in an appropriate discipline, at least five years in an administrative capacity at the department level or above in higher education, and a positive record of program curriculum creation, fiscal and personnel management, teaching, and scholarship.

ERP System Administrator

The Colleague Systems Administrator will maintain enterprise business application servers and perform hardware and software maintenance operations. Responsibilities will include installation, configuration and support server hardware, software and data backup and disaster recovery; providing application and operating system expertise and work closely with users and enterprise systems analysts to ensure closely coordinated requirements; installing and testing application, patch upgrades and/or configuration changes to provide a stable and reliable operational environment; monitoring necessary backup/restore services, in coordination with onsite staff performing the backup services; collaborating with other IT team members and users of the supported systems and applications; providing proactive and ongoing operational advice regarding server administration, upgrades, and backup/restore operations on the supported platform; maintaining security and access; providing performance monitoring and capacity planning and complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor's degree or three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Colleague ERP system and working knowledge of Ellucian (Colleague ERP), ODS, DMI, Webadvisor, MS SQL, PowerShell and Scripting is required. Knowledge of the Colleague Software development environment, server infrastructure, database management systems, web servers, and operating systems of the ERP system. Must be highly organized and possess excellent analytical skills to develop technical solutions to business problems. Herd Caretaker

Midway College is seeking a high energy, well organized, equine Herd Caretaker. This position is a full time non-exempt position with a Friday through Tuesday, 7:30am-4:30pm, work schedule.

The Herd Caretaker’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, feeding and watering horses, grooming, cleaning stalls and administering treatments as directed by the herd health veterinarian. This position will also be responsible for barn maintenance, such as cleaning, power washing, disinfecting and minor repairs. Other duties include mowing and weed eating.

The applicant must demonstrate proficient horse handling skills and the ability to operate farm equipment such as tractor, arena drag, manure spreader, watering tank, bush hog and weed eater. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. Preference will be given to candidates that are bilingual in Spanish and have Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience. Position requires long hours of standing and walking, heavy lifting and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Some holiday work will also be required.
