Director of Human Resources

Midway University invites applications for the position of Director of Human Resources. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Director of Human Resources will provide proactive strategic and tactical leadership, management, and consultation to the institution in human resources. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the areas of employee relations, hiring, compensation analysis and structures, benefits design and administration, wellness programming, payroll, vendor management, orientation and exits, training, risk management related to safety and workers compensation, and policy/procedure development in accordance with institutional needs and regulations.

Instructional Technologist

Duties and responsibilities include but, are not limited to:
• Provide LMS (Moodle) administration, training, and development
• Evaluate new technologies to discover new and better ways to enhance instruction
• Assist faculty in discovering methods of improving their instruction with and without technology
• Conduct training sessions teaching faculty and staff how to use new technologies
• Conduct research studies evaluating the use of technologies and their impact on student learning outcomes
• Create training materials to accommodate the self-learners and provide resources for our “customers”

Required Qualifications:
• ALA-accredited MLIS and a degree/certificate or coursework in instructional design.
• Experience in learning management systems, preferably Moodle
• Demonstrated ability to use technology effectively to enhance information literacy instruction
• Knowledge of current issues and trends in instruction pedagogy, instructional design, and instructional literacies.
• Knowledge of library functions and cataloging
• Experience in developing online videos, tutorials, and other web-based learning objects
• Evidence of successful project management skills
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to provide professional customer service and communication skills, including presentation skills and written communication skills, as well as superior collaboration skills are required.

Assistant Director of Residence Life

Founded in 1847, Midway University serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in evening accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

Reporting to the director of residence life and community service, the assistant director of residence life is responsible for all aspects of a residence life program in one of the University’s two residence halls, including supervision of student staff, program development and implementation, facility management, student conduct, and crisis response. The assistant director serves as the professional staff member on-call on a rotating basis. In addition, this position assists with other aspects of the residence life program and with student affairs initiatives in general. These include, but are not limited to, staff selection and training, room selection and placement, the first-year experience program, honors night and commencement planning, etc. This position also plans, promotes and implements summer camps and other types of summer programs on the Midway campus. Summer programs may include a variety of camps (day and residential), sports clinics, etc.

Required qualifications include: a master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a closely related field, 1 to 3 years of related experience, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and a commitment to ingenuity within the framework of best practices. This is a full-time, 12-month live-in position and requires evening and weekend availability. In addition to the salary, the compensation includes an apartment, phone service, cable TV, Wi-Fi internet access, utilities and meals.

Development Officer

Midway University is seeking a Development Officer to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects for major and/or annual gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations or estates. This position should have an understanding of complex and sensitive areas such as major gifts, planned giving or corporate and foundation relations.

The Development Officer will make direct solicitation calls to potential donors and compose follow up call reports; cultivate prospects for major, corporate, leadership, foundation, or planned gifts; have extensive contact with potential donors, corporate officials, foundation officers and/or financial advisors to generate gift proposals; assist in activities related to the annual fund, alumni relations, special events and community relations; oversee the President’s Circle Giving Society, coordinating stewardship activities and developing strategies to grow this group of donors; oversee all activities related to annual Phonathon to solicit gifts from alumni, including recruitment of callers and follow-up to donors; identify potential major donors based on information from Donor Research, other development officers and external contacts; draft proposals, letters and agreements to close gifts; act as liaison with community support groups and may solicit donations for various funds.

A qualified applicant must possess proven customer relations experience and outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent organizational, detail skills and be able to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
